We took Jonathan up to Scottish Rite yesterday to have his sodium checked. It was normal (146), which is great. This means that even though he isn’t drinking willingly, we are able to give him enough fluids other ways to keep him hydrated and his sodium where it should be. Sooo, as soon as he starts drinking again he can go back to school. They have really missed him and I’m betting that he has missed them.
Jonathan finished his 10 day round of Bactrim this morning. His temp is now running in the low to mid 99s and he seems to feel better. However, he is still not 100% and now is refusing to drink. We are able to force/feed him enough liquid/equivalents that he is staying pretty hydrated, but it’s obviously not the best option. On the upside, it has been 12 days since Jonathan had a seizure. We are waiting to hear from the doctors what they would like us to do next.
Pictures in the Clouds
by Heather Bartlett
What do I see in the sky?
Clouds! Clouds! Moving slowly by and by.
Wait, I think I see shapes!
A lion, a bear, heroes in boots and capes!
Great big silly clowns,
And lumpy figures with huge frowns!
I see an eagle’s head, so very proud and tall,
Its eyes, though, are very, very small.
I see a reindeer and sleigh,
And Santa coming with his toys to say hey,
A lobster, a parrot, and a great big fish,
I spot a cup, a spoon, and a round little dish.
Do you see it too?
It’s a huge kangaroo!
What is that I spy?
It is lighting up the sky!
A flying saucer coming near,
It’s coming over here!
Look! A martian! He is so cute!
I think he is maybe mute!
He doesn’t make a peep,
Oops! I fell asleep!
Jonathan finally seems like he is feeling better, thanks to a new Pediatrician and another round of antibiotics (stronger ones for resistive infections). The new doctor believe that it was a really bad sinus infection with some ear involvement. His temp has been much closer to normal the last couple of days. The new doc also said that Jonathan might need to go to an allergist as he seems to have pretty bad allergies. He is already taking an adult dose of Nasonex and Claritin on a daily basis.
Jonathan is still running a low grade fever. It’s staying, for the most part, around 100. It will be a month this Friday since he started running fever. He will also finish a 2 week round of Augmentin this Friday. I am hoping that the doctor’s will have some idea of what they want to do after that if he is still running fever.
