Another Update

Jonathan is better.  His sodium is back down to his normal.  We are moving to the floor today.  He is still sleeping a lot, but all the doctor’s agree that it’s just because he’s so worn out from everything that has happened.  We will be moving to the Endocrinology floor today so that the Endocrinologist can keep an eye on his sodium and how it does to him eating again and being more normal.  They are stopping the IV today as well.

It has been determined that he did not have sepsis.  They cultured the bacteria that they got in the blood and neither antibiotic that he was on woudl have killed it and he got better, thus, no sepsis.

Hopefully, we will get to go home late tomorrow or Saturday.  No doctor has mentioned a time frame for going home, but since he is mostly back to normal except the sleeping and just now starting to eat again, I can’t see them keeping him a whole lot longer.

Bryan, Heather and I are all feeling better as well.  I’m very grateful that my sisters could stay up here at the hospital with him while we were all sick.

Thanks for your prayers.

Update to the Update

Jonathan is still in the ICU.  They did extubate him yesterday, but his body was still under so much sedation that they had to give him oxygen.  He is completely off the blood pressure meds now.  He is obviously off the ventilator.  His sodium came back up again and we don’t know why, but by this morning it had started to come down again.  His blood culture came back and he does have sepsis.  However, since they suspected this at the beginning they are already treating him with two antibiotics that would cover pretty much any kind of bacteria.  He hasn’t eaten since Friday so we are hoping that they let him try to eat today sometime.  The doctor’s plan to try to wean him off the oxygen today and also take out his central line and just use his reguarl iv site for meds and fluids.

On another note, Bryan, Heather and I all came down with a stomach virus last night.  Probably the same one that Jonathan had.  We are all running fever, but are no longer throwing up, so for that we are grateful.  My sisters are staying with Jonathan up at the hospital since I cannot be there.

Please keep us all in your prayers.

Hospital update

We are in the ICU. Jonathan started out on two blood pressure meds to try to get his blood pressure up to the low end of ok. As of right now, he has been weaned off one of those meds and they are starting to wean him off the second. Will probably have him completely off the blood pressure meds by morning ahift change and then be able to take him off the ventilator and extubate him. He is also hydrated again.

Jonathan is sick again.

He started throwing up last night and having diarrhea. Had to bring him to the ER this morning. They had to intubate him and put him on a ventilator. He will be moving to the icu soon.

Strep Throat

Well, it appears that my entire family has strep throat. This would explain us being sick to our stomachs for so long. Oddly enough, Heather said she felt fine. Turns out her throat was just as red as mine. Thankfully, I took Jonathan to the doc on Wednesday, so we are now all on antibiotics. I am going to try to scrub everything tomorrow. I really hope we get rid of it for good 🙂
